About Lia
Independent Painter | Based in Singapore
I work primarily with oil painting, self-portraiture, sketches, and drawings, focusing on themes of self-repair and inner reconciliation. My self-portraits are not depictions of appearance, but explorations of a performative self—each work a fragment of life, a slice of my inner state.
Through color and symbolic forms, I dismantle and reconstruct myself on the canvas. Even when optimism masks inner pain, my art remains a path toward repair and understanding.
I hope viewers, when encountering my work, can not only see me, but also catch glimpses of themselves, of society, and even of the subconscious.
Art, for me, began where language failed—when words could no longer hold what I felt, painting became my way to speak.
